Holiday Decorating Weekend at Moss Mountain Farm

Posted by

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is holiday decorating weekend at the farm. It’s a fantastic, magical time where I set the mood with lively holiday music, mull some cider on the stovetop, and bring all the beautiful seasonal décor back to life. I really enjoy blending traditional and modern holiday décor, and creating different themes throughout the rooms at Moss Mountain Farm.

I really delight in the rustic holiday look. In the front parlor, I used a very cool palette of blues and silvers to create a farmhouse-chic winter wonderland across the mantel. The sweeping drape of the garland creates a casual, natural feel, and the sparkling silver ornaments and snowflakes add just the right amount of shine. Add some deer-themed burlap stockings for a cozy, cabin feel and you could spend your whole holiday nestled up by the fireside.

Sometimes you just have to spell it out. Adding a favorite holiday sentiment can be just what you need to put that finishing touch on your décor. Whether you prefer “Merry Christmas,” “Happy Holidays,” or “Season’s Greetings,” spell it out with fabric garland, a banner or old-fashioned type blocks. You can also never go wrong with red for the holiday. I incorporated red and green ribbon with a lush garland and ample apples for a bold, natural holiday design.

Each year, the Christmas tree is the star of the show during decorating weekend at Moss Mountain Farm. I love a traditional tree filled with red ribbons. It’s a classic look that can really make your tree pop. Use netted ribbon for a more modern look, or velvet ribbon for a great, luxurious texture.
